Review: Shuri: A Black Panther Novel

Shuri: A Black Panther Novel Shuri: A Black Panther Novel by Nic Stone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you want a story with strong female characters- look no further! The girls are Wakanda are a force to be reckoned with. Age and size are of no consequence when it comes to protecting your homeland. Shuri is incredibly intelligent and talented. Together with the help of her best friend, K'Marah, and a friendly face from the Marvel universe (I won't spoil the surprise), Shuri works to uncover the mystery of who is out to ruin Wakanda.

Review: Dear Sweet Pea

Dear Sweet Pea Dear Sweet Pea by Julie Murphy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fantastic audio book! I loved the reader- clear and easy to hear, brought lots of spunk and personality to Sweet Pea's character. The story itself is one that lots of kids will connect to- changing friendships, changing families, growing up, etc. Perfect for middle school!

Review: Redwood and Ponytail

Redwood and Ponytail Redwood and Ponytail by K.A. Holt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I felt like it read more like Tam and Kate were in high school instead of middle school, but other than that I think it was incredibly well done. Holt has an art for getting to the heart of things. The struggles of figuring out who you are and who you love are ones that kids gay and straight alike will identify with.
